Sept. 19, 2014:

“Essentially Yours…” is a weekly email in which your confusions, concerns and challenges are addressed. The Divine Intention of this email is to take the personal curiosities of one and supply enlightenment and clarity to all.

“I was talking to a friend and I asked her what she wanted in life and she said she just wanted to be happy. I didn’t understand, you can’t just ‘be happy’; you have to do things, right?”

Happiness is an euphoric state of being. It includes a collection of ‘happy moments’. A person who is viewed as having a ‘happy life’ is truly just an individual who seems to have more ‘happy moments’ than ‘unhappy moments,’ for we all have them. I would ask your friend what makes her happy? For it is the completion of these things that would result in happiness, right? Becoming conscious of what makes us happy and frequently including these things in our daily lives empowers us to be happy and indulge in happiness.

“Since embarking on my spiritual journey, I’m seeing things differently.”

Of course you are! You are seeing life through spiritual eyes! You see, there is a difference between experiencing a spiritual awakening and enduring a spiritual journey. When one’s spirit awakens, it becomes aware of the life the ego created while unconsciously becoming aware of itself. A person may feel out-of-sorts, uncomfortable in their own skin, confused, frustrated for no reason, anxious, apathetic, moody or depressed. As one endures a spiritual journey, they consciously choose to bring spirit to the forefront of the life the ego created. They make a commitment to introducing their spirit into the world their ego created, partnering with the ego to make the necessary changes for its Highest Good. As a ‘spiritual adventurer’, you shall experience increased awareness, deeper consciousness, enhanced respect for nature and life, and stronger sensitivity towards humanity.

“I’m scared to heal. I know I need to and I feel that I can, but I am scared to start the process. Is that crazy?”

No it’s not. When you choose to heal from emotional or psychological trauma, it is wise to make a conscious decision to do so. The healing process is a challenging one for it requires confidence, persistence, patience, compassion, discipline, forgiveness, submission and acceptance. You have to be bold and ready to heal. You need a support group, a strong core and outlets. Life doesn’t stop while you heal; you have to maintain your position in life, family, work and social circles. You have to maintain focus upon professional and practical obligations.

Many of us need to heal; all of us won’t heal. Healing is a choice and a gift.

Your fear is valid, your need acknowledged and your belief supported; yet your insanity is not true. You are simply a human being cautious about re-experiencing the devastating moments that has led you to this crucial point. That’s all.  🙂

“I want to die.”

I respect your desire, yet I would ask ‘Why?’ I believe there are two instances when death seems a ‘natural preference’ to life. One instance is when one is hurting so incredibly that he/she would rather not live so as to save themselves from pain. Therefore, they don’t really want to die, they want to heal, yet may not understand that subconscious desire due to their conscious pain.

Another instance is when one’s soul is not ready for their life-experience. I believe, spiritually, that this is why some babies are stillborn – their souls do not want to experience life in physical form at that specific time. Moreover, I believe, aside from medical issues, that those with chronic depression have souls that are not ready for their life-experiences. Their sadness, feelings of unworthiness, inadequacy and not fitting in, and other heavy negative emotion is due to the soul feeling ‘out of place’ and ‘incomplete’. Just as a new soul can choose to abandon its physical body, so too can a more mature soul.

And so I ask: are you chronically depressed (medically speaking) and in need of medication or are you hurting and need to heal?
